If you follow that article correctly, all the vehicles are rather close to each other EXCEPT the porsche and the Jeep. they are out in the front of the pack with the Chevy and the BMW coming up the rear basically. I love my 4.8is and drove pretty much every vehicle in that test and still came away with the BMW. However, I am not blind to the fact that there are other SUV out there that are MUCH cheaper than our beloved X5 that easily kick its a** when it comes to outright performance. The Jeep is a full 1.5 sec faster to 60 than the BMW. 1.5 sec is allot of ground that BMW engineering needs to work on. BMW has never really tried to be the fastest but the playing field is no longer what it used to be so we will see. The horsepower wars are in full effect.

I am very curious to see what BMW has up it sleeve for this market with the replacement 4.8is vehicle. I think that the vehicle that will compete on the insane performance/price level with the Porsche/Benz/Jeep will more likely be the X6 when it is available unless an ///M badge will be placed on an X5 model.

The replacement is said to be a twin turbo V8 so I guess we will have to wait and see what kind of numbers it puts out. All the big boys are well over 400 hP and torque and have the times in the sub 5 sec range. Wonder if BMW will be able to deliver.

The other nice thing about the Porsche, RR sport and the Benz is that their suspensions lowers automatically when you reach higher speeds. I believe 80 mph or something. Give increased stability and handling at the upper speed digits.

It is funny to mention Jeep in the performance wars.....but it cannot be denied anymore.
