Burl Wood Discontinued

Burl Wood trim is discontinued according to the dealer, at least in Canada. Anyone confirm?

I placed an order for a 4.8i last week and I was told that Burl Wood would not be available. I can't confirm that it has been completely discontinued; however, I can't see BMW leaving only 2 types of wood trim, light poplar and dark bamboo. Hopefully, there will be a tasteful replacement in the medium shade of brown. Personally, I prefer the black leather interior and I feel that the light poplar is too light and the dark bamboo may make the interior look a little too dark.

FYI, I was also told that ventilated nevada leather (which I was led to believe was a no cost option from bmwusa.com) is not available unless ordered in conjunction with the cold weather package, and obviously the ventilated seat option.

If anyone knows of any other quirks about the available options, I'd be glad to hear it. I still have some time to decide on options as my production date isn't until February.

if they do, it'll be in the high performance version

what i don't understand is why they don't offer high glass piano on all there models for a cheaper price, there is no better looking trim available on any car IMO

Spoke Too Soon

I heard back from my dealer today and he confirmed that in fact Burl Wood Trim IS available and will be in my 4.8i (FEB 07 production).

Not exactly sure what the mix-up was... just wanted to let you all know.

I think the biggest question is: Why doesnt BMW NA just offer the same trims and colors available in Europe? Sheesh it's not like you have to certify it with the Dept. of Transportation like you'd do with a different engine.

If they offered a 3-series with cloth interior, we'd take that.

I doubt that, when you buy a bmw you expect a little more.

That's the general consensus in America. "When I pay xxx for a luxury nameplate, x, x, and x should be standard."

What if you wanted the driving experience and didn't care much for fancy stuff as long as its well put together with decent materials? The money saved by getting cloth seats can go towards something like sport package.

Our next BMW will likely not have power seats. But it'll have the sport seats with adjustable side bolsters
