When in sport mode, there is some increase in the rougness of the ride but not significant. I also have active steering and am getting use to it and am glad I got it. The 3.0 I drove did not have it. In my opinion the sport package would be a must to make me happy and is well worth it!!!
Thanks EJ,

My dealer called to say he has an unspoken for 4.8 sport with 20's. I don't know what other equipment it has, but i"m going to try it tomorrow afternoon. I'm primarily concerned about ride and tramlining (my pet peeve with some BMW models). I'll post a picture of the 4.8 with the 20's for those who have been asking. Do you notice any tramlining with your 4.8/19"/active steering?

Very nice. I recently purchased a 2004 4.8 i.s X5. Its my 4th BMW and my second X5. I have to admit, when I first saw the new X5, I was not overly impressed. From the ouside, it looked pretty good, but it reminded me of a larger X3. After a couple of visits to my BMW dealership, I decided to go ahead and test drive one. The ones that they had in L.A were 4.8's but without a lot of ammenities. The interior looked pretty plain and did not really grab my attention. It handles Like a BMW and definitely has power. As for the third row seating, it was OK... I know , I know its really not made for full size adults to sit back there. And the price....Lets just say WOW. Especially if you have it pretty loaded like yourself. The dealership I buy my cars at has not sold one yet. Anyways, I just wanted to give my 2 cents. I have to admit, with yours havin pretty much all the bells and whistles, it does look fairly attracitive. Good luck with your new X5!
