Unfortunately, the car we bought has the standard sound system. Waiting for a custom ordered vehicle would have taken up to 4 months as opposed to 3 weeks for the car we are getting.

What would be the easiest way to upgrade the standard sound system? Is it really that bad?

Also, does anyone have a compehensive set of pictures of the RSE system?

Thanks

In the same boat.

I have a new X5 and am REALLY dissapointed in the sound. My previous X5 was better ( although it seems not critically aclaimed here).

Bass not tight, midrange a mess.

Any thoughts? HELP !!

The only thing I want to do is add more power. When using the AUX for an IPOD, even cranked, it's not too loud. Could use a bigger amp.

thats not the stereos fault...get a proper cable:
http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Ipod-3-5.../dp/B000CCF9UM

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...d_i=B000CCF9UM

these cables will increase volume and quality by 50%.
My Ipod sounds just like the original CD using this cable.

What system does yours have? The standard system in Australia I believe has 6 speakers? Is this the same as yours?

BMW should really learn from Japanese car companies. I have standard system on my X5, since H/K system in my M3 was very bad IMO wasn't worth extra $. However, my current basic X5 sounds better than premium system in M3. I used to have FX35 and it had very nice system I'm not even sure if I paid extra for it.
