Anyone here driving a six cylinder model?
I was originially planning to get a ML 320 CDI, as the diesel's fuel economy and torque were appealing features. But, and a big but, the MB dealers in my city are phenomenal pricks. So I am back to considering the X5. But, in trying the 3.0 litre, I had the distinct impression that the engine was underpowered for the size and heft of the vehicle. Can anyone with a six cylinder model please comment on their opinion on the engine. How about fuel economy on the highway? Thank you in advance for the information. |

Actually I think its just the right amount of power. Everyone that drives with me comments on what good pick up it has..they usually ask, "is this a v8?"..I think its perfect for the $$.

The power from the 3.0 is more than adequate in the city, but ... when travelling at 80km/h+ and wanting to accelerate, the transmission kicks down a couple of gears, the tach heads to the redline and the sav doesn't really go anywhere. I'd opt for the V8, or wait until the 3.5 turbo is introduced.

i drove both, and bought the 4.8. the 3.0 was a bit sluggish (when comp'ed to the 4.8) the x5 is heavy...

WHen you fill up your X5, what does the computer show as your range?
What have you empirically observed the fuel econimy to be on the highway? Thank you |
