Sport or No Sport
I am in process of ordering my vehicle but cannot decide if I should get Sport package or not....I would like the 19's to compliment the car a little more, but am wondering if 19's on a Non Sport would feel same as 19's with Sport..... Also with Sport, I think you get the Sport button by shifter....what would this do on a Sport package in Canada which doesnt have Adaptive Drive?? |

If you're really interested in the handling aspect, spend the money and get the adaptive drive. Drive one with and one without to decide if it's worth it. I haven't driven either yet, but I'm guessing they're worlds apart and I'm also guessing you'll be amazed by adaptive drive.
If you do end up getting a non-sport model, I think you will in-fact not experience the same level of stiff ride if you just add 19's. If the handling is not that important to you, then I'm guessing you'll be happy with this choice. Not sure what the sport button does on a non-sport. Are you sure it's there on a non-sport?

No theres no Sport button on a Non Sport.
But on a SPORT, I wanted to know what it does ?? I think if you were to switch it off on a sport it would drive like a non sport and less stiffened setup, and if switched on it will be opposite. Which means best of both worlds at the push of a button....am I on the right lines???? Or ...how about a NON SPORT with ADAPTIVE?? Sorry for so many options but just trying to decide before spending $70k+ on an X5 ! |

I don't think adaptive is available as an option on a non-sport. Did you see this review? It really is a great read and you should also take a look at the adaptive drive video - it's EXCELLENT info for especially folks in your position...

Don't forget that if you get the sport package and you'll be dealing with messy winter weather, you should build into your budget a set of 18's with snow tires, because those 19's are going to turn your X into a sled in the snow.

What I can't tell you is whether you get the sport button on adaptive drive even if you do not opt for the sport package. There, are we all confused now ? |

The 19s are all weather tires. Only the 20s should be a problem in snow.

All weather tires aren't as good as winter/snow tires, if where you live really snows a lot I wouldn't get all weather/four seasons tires. I'd just buy another set of rims with snow tires on them so I can change them when winter comes but that just me.
If you do not want to be bother with change rims/tires and all that, I guess all weather tires are the only choise to go. |
