Common misconception.
The sport button next to the shifter (which you can turn on/off sport) only makes it (transmission)shift sporty, it does squat for handling. The "sport package" is an all time sport suspension. Hope people are clear about this.

So how does that help?

You decide you want to charge your cell phone so you plug it into an outlet and leave your keyfob in the ignition?

Some how that dosen't strike me as very advantagous.

Many times my phone has been almost down for the count but i plugged it in in the back of the X. Run a few errends and the WHOLE time it's charging key on or not. Before you know it all done. Tried that in the 530i and as you can imagine, the phone never got charged very much.

well i dunno. i have comfort access so i never have the key in anyways.. and i have never charged my phone with my car but i guess you cant charge your phone like you could before.. you might have to just invest in a extra battery or two

if you have comfort access, is there still the slot to put the fob in?

yes. the slot is still there and i can turn on the car with or without the key in it

I thought the Sport button next to the gear stick was to engage the sport setting on the adaptive drive, thereby adjusting/firming the suspension/handling, not the the gear ratios.

Is this not the case then?

Pete, I think you're right. The sport button is to firm up the suspension on adaptive drive models. The only way the transmission goes sporty is by pushing the gearshift lever to the left into DS as with all steptronics.

Brief descrption: My parents were looking at X5's and I helped them out with some research and came across this forum, anyway, I went with my parents yesterday to buy their E70 with comfort access, and during the walk-thru of the car, the saleman told them to put the key fob in the slot every now and then, that way it'll charge it up. Don't know if how true that is, but that's what he said.

He's right...same for my 330i...key fob needs recharging when in slot now and then.
