Clear Bra on your X5?

I am in the process of negotiating the price for a Jet Black 4.8i.
Since this is a Black color, is it a wise idea to put clear bra to avoid the paint from rock chips?
Has any member put clear bra on their Jet Black X5 (photos) and does it work?

Here are some pictures of clear bra installed.

I put it on my Black Saphire. It will protect the leading edge of the hood. I think it is a wise idea if you do a lot of highway miles. I would also recommend doing the bumper since that is the part that is also exposed.

Thanks Denalio,
I will definitely do it later. I have been quoted $1200 (3M) for bumper, leading edgeof the hood & 2 side mirrors. Is this a reasonable price?

Sometimes you get what you pay for. I've had it done on a few cars and if done right the visible edges are minimized by tucking the edges in where possible which takes more time and therefore money. There are kits, custom work and semi custom work. Do a little research and see how they do it before you decide which way to go.

yes, I would definately shop around. I got mine done with 3M and all windows Ceramic Tint for $735.00 CDN by a real pro. It was all custom done, hood, bumper, foglights, mirrors. I agree with the other post...you do get what you pay for. However, that doesn't mean you have to overpay.

You should look into these guys www.premiermobilegroup.com. I've had them do my 996tt and it came out excellent. Had it done through the dealer initially by Carlsen vendor, but it looked horrible. So these guys redid it for me and it was 100xs better.
