Dreaded Tobacco Leather

I placed my order Jan 21. I was thrilled on Feb 21 when the 800 number informed me that my vehicle had completed production and was waiting to be released to the carrier. This past Monday (3-12) when the status still had not changed I called my CA. He phoned me back today to tell me that the hold up is the tobacco leather. Alledgedly they are waiting for the tobacco leather for the door panels. I don't understand how it can be "complete" without the door panels. My question, should I cancel this order? At this point could probably find a car already at a dealership with (black comfort seats) my second choice. I would definitely prefer the tobacco but realistically am I just getting the run around? What are the odds they'll come up with the tobacco for my door panels? I've waited this long and it would make me crazy if I saw somebody eventually driving around town in the car I ordered.

They're not going to keep your vehicle on the line till the panels arrive. It has been rolled off the end of the line..the panels will be manually installed once they arrive. Wait it out, you've waited this long. A few extra weeks out of so many years of ownership isn't a big deal. Plus, the interior color really makes a vehicle unique and is also what you interact with the most while you're in the car.

Man, you waited this long and are contemplating canceling an order because of a delay for door panels? Ah, wait it out.

good decision. Get the car you want, you're not buying an economy/commuter car...

I also had my ordered in black and tobacco, but then I decided to cancel due to the delay and late production. I replaced an order with a black and black interior, so I can have my car sooner. I took a delivery from the BMW dealer for more than 2 weeks now. Very very satisfied w/ my new ride. My only comment for the black/black color is, it is very super hard to keep it clean but realy an awesome color.

I too have black/black and am very pleased!!

as you mentioned though, you have to clean it everytime you have passengers, especially the rear seats ...I guess the upside is, since we see the dirt we will keep them much cleaner than the lighter colors.

Absolutely. I had a black interior on a 3-series a few years ago.. dirt shows up easier, but when you clean it, goes away and stains a lot less than lighter colors. Plus, as you said, you're more inclined to clean it more often...
