Same goes for the gas mileage in their cars..if u can afford the car, you can afford the gas

sorry to steer off topic

Maybe if you were Chevy or Ford this would be true but not with BMW!

Getting only base models can be VERY problematic if a potential buyer can't find a car in stock with certain features they want to try out. I know people here have asked about features and were unsure because they didn't get to see it/experience it in person.

Our dealer also won't haggle on the price. Their reasoning- "We don't have to". I actually believe it. There are 2 BMW dealers in the city and one has a very elite image and the other one has a cheap/tacky image. Yes, they are all BMW's but it's just a perception/stereotype around here. You can guess which one won't haggle! We did still get $2500 off MSRP but I think it had to do with the fact that we are loyal customers more than anything.

Ooops... steering OT.

My local dealer lost a sale (mine) because of his lame policy of only stocking base model units. I went in several times to demo the Nav, and was told " the Nav is too expensive, you can buy a Garmin for $500 and stick it on the windshield". No sport package to demo, no comfort seats, etc. How do they expect to sell these premium items if they cant show them?

Idiots...why would I want to spend $70k and buy a nav to stick on the windshield?
I ended up going to another dealer 400 miles away.

I went to one dealer, gave them my order, and they gave me an April Prod. Date. In early Jan. So I was like "forget you" and went to a different dealer where I got my X5 in under a month.

And the first batch of demos were all the same. Space Grey 3.0si, Black 4.8i, both with undesireable options/ didn't have desireable options.
