3.5 Twin turbo in X5, when?

I want to buy an X5 3.0, but I know that the new 3.5 TT engine will make its way into the X5 eventually, so I would like to wait for it to happen before making my purchase... the problem is; does anyone know when the new engine will make it into the X5? i have heard that the 535 and X3 may get it this year as the 2008 model year, but what about the X5??

:xoutpost:

it's not acutally a 3.5 liter engine

you can expect it for 2008, but don't hold your breath. one year into the new e90, they switched the engine. they may do the same with the e70

I thought they changed the engine from 330 to 335 after two years on the sedan right?

Any idea when we will find out for sure what engines will be avalsble for 2008?

After a year and a half. The 3 sedan began its 2006 model year in March versus July/August for new MY's...

The 535i is already confirmed for 2008. The E60 refresh is an early MY designation too (starting in April/may 07' for the 2008's). I think the earliest that we will see the 3.5i engine in the X5 is for the 09' model year - so middle of 08...

Either that, or the 3.5i engine will make its appearance when BMW puts the diesel engines into the E70 for the 08 model year... I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

yes. it is called the 335. but it still uses a 3.0 liter engine. the extra 5 is to denote the difference between the 255-hp 3.0 330i and the 300-hp 3.0 335i

it's like the s in 3.0si to distinguish between the 225-hp 3.0 3.0i and the 260-hp 3.0 3.0si

currently everything I-6 is a 3.0 engine (325, 328, 330, 335)

Wondering whether the X5 3.5si will be introduced together with the high performance "is" model in early 08?

Not soon IMO, they cant make 335i Coupes fast enough, I ordered one Dec 21 and I should get it on the 5th of next month, the 535 just got released and they have delayed new 335i orders for 3 months. They need to get engine production up before they add that to more vehicles. 2009 is my guess.
