The button has actually been around for a long time. My Dad had a Cadillac in the 60's that had a push button start.

1. Rear view camera could really use a good upgrade. Not only is it useless at night but by the time it comes on I'm almost done backing out. I had FX35 before and it came on as soon as you put in reverse and see everything clear at night.

2. Bluetooth. If I'm on my phone and turn the engine on then I can't hear anything. I have RAZR

3. I didn't get comfort seat, and I feel like I'm getting punished for it seats are very flat.

4. I know we have lockable space in back but lockable glove compartment would've been nice.

5. Rear door doesn't open all the way up. I banged my head several times before I got used to it(I'm 6ft tall).

6. Running boards sure look nice but I dirty my pants every time I get out.

I think that's about it. Do I still like the car? You bet your ass I do.

What's the Point

But what's the point. A button for the sake of a button doesn't make sense. Why take a 1 (well maybe 1 1/2 steps) step process and make it into 2 steps? What was accomplished?

what exactly is it you dont like about the button?
It make sense to me, why should I have to use a key?
Of course I have comfort access, which should be standard on all vehicles.

You need the button for comfort access and so it is probably cheaper to engineer the non-comfort access cars in this way rather than providing a turn switch.

That's probably the reason however it doesn't make it right. Lots of things can be done cheaper but shouldn't be done if they don't make sense for the driver which is who BMW is appealing to. Audi installs the start button only in cars with comfort access. Not a big deal, just my $.02.
