Great choice. How is the fuel economy? I have the 4.8 and am getting 15.5 mostly city driving, (not broken in yet)

He does not. Look closely at the back seats.

And beautiful car!

Beautiful!

Glad you stuck it out! We have the same wheels- don't see them on here that often, I guess most switched to the 20in? I like them!

Have fun!

P.S. Nice to know we aren't the only ones to take the X5 on a road trip the first weekend we had it! Actually, the first TWO weekends we had it!

Congrats

That's a beautiful vehicle! I hope you're glad you stuck with your X5 order. I also ordered the 19s, so it's great to see them in your photos. I don't know about you, but I have a feeling that the 20s wouldn't get along too well with Boston streets...

Thanks for posting the pics.

looks great! you need to hardwire that radar to your map lights with a inline fuse and get rid of that cord!

Thanks for all the comments. Just got back home a couple of hours ago after a heck of a 9.5 hour drive. Nasty weather chased me all the way with some torrential downpours along the way with some snow and sleet tossed in.

Can't remember the options I have off the top of my head (long drive has cooked my noggin) but I skipped on the third row seats, rear entertainment, and HD Radio.

Attached are some requested pics of the rear cargo area. The first is bottom gate shot, the next pic is all rear doors open, and the third pic shows the cargo cover in place. The floor lifts up effortlessly compared to my old 4.6is. The gas piston can even support the weight of a few overfilled duffel bags. The storage bin in the lower left is pretty deep and holds lots of loose items.

A side effect of the pic taking are some decent shots of the HUD. I chose not to attach the really incriminating ones.

Oh, as for fuel economy. The break in portion really skewed the numbers. At around 1,250 miles, I began to drive normally. About 50 miles outside of Schenectady, NY, I set the cruise control to 72MPH in an area of where the road made several 200 to 600ft climbs and falls. I got a very disappointing 18.5MPG. My old 4.6is would average abour 21MPG on the same stretch. Fuel economy seemed to pick up significantly around 65MPH. I ran a stretch of I-87 then I-90 to the Mass border at that speed due to traffic and got 20.5MPG.
