Unfortunately the American made X5 is probably no match quality wise against the German made M5 but I don't understand how someone wanting an X5 would then switch to an M5 since they're totally different vehicles.

all I know is nearly half of the GERMAN made E46's M or otherwise, had their weatherstripping fall off. At least the "American made" X5 got the glue right

It's not quality issues for me- it's the availability of a Napa Tobacco interior. Next week I'll know for sure.

Besides if I have to wait for 08- maybe I'll get paddles- new colors and.....option choices they can actually deliver on.

Weird switch but the M5 is sweet, good luck with it. Definitely a completely different vehicle and price range, but an awesome car, so have fun with it.

I am concerned w/ the quality of the X5, especially now that everything is electronic (shifter, P brake, singnal stalk) everything... so I am considering an Acura MDX... well the MDX has also been getting some really great reviews...

I would not worry about it. Get what you want... with the four year warranty.... BMW will be able to work out all the bugs.

I do not see myself driving anything but a BMW now.

The warranty does not cover my time and inconvenience. Not to mention if how I'd be if I missed an important appointment due to a breakdown.

If such a car was availbile, I would perfer a car that does not break with no warranty at all.
