Received Parking Brake Software Recall from BMW

I received a letter yesterday from BMW asking me to take my 07 X5 to a BMW Service center due to the Parking Brake Distance issue. The letter stated that a new software will address the issue. I called up BMW NA and they confirmed the parking brake software upgrade. I also called my Service Advisor who also told me about a tranny software upgrade recall on top of the Parking Brake Distance issue.

I asked my Servcice Advisor about the Naviugation pop-up arrow issue. He said that it is not a recall, BMW will fix it on a case to case basis if you experience such problem.

I already made an appointment with the Service Department for next week.

When you have the CCC display with the Assistant window (smaller window on the right) showing the NAV map, whenever you're approaching a turn, a window with arrow would popup to show you the turning directions.

Excerpt from the letter I received from BMW -" BMW has become aware of a potential problem regarding the automatic transmission park logic of your vehicle. If the driver were to leave the vehicle with the engine running in drive postion "D" or "R" selected, the automatic transmission would automatically shift into park position "P". This function is intended to limit vehicle movement in such a situation. In the case of your vehicle, the response time of this function needs to be shortened ... there is a possibility that the vehicle could move forward or backward a few feet until the parking lock is engaged.
We need to install new and improved software on your vehicle so that the response time of this function will be shorter if the situation described above were to arise. Please contact your authorized BMW center...."

Hope this help!

Do you have any information on the transmission software recall?
