Smile Greetings from Down Under

Hi all and greetings from downunder

I have been checking out the forums regularly for the last couple of months and so far I am very impressed by not only the level of detail but the massive resource of information here. In fact I was the one guiding the dealer into what options are available because of the info from this site.

I have just traded in my 02 X5 4.4i Sport for the E70 4.8i.

I have ordered the following: Can't wait to get into it... It is due for production in in May 07 with delivery in July 07.
4.8i, Silver / Black Leather / Titanium Trim, 20", Sports Pack, SunRoof, 3rd Row Seats, rear blinds (for the kiddies).
I have only seen the E70 at the recent motor show, they are due to begin delivery in Australia this month, so I am keen to see the colour combinations especially Black.
The 4.8i comes fairly well optioned here as compared with the US.
I have been tossing up whether to get the HUD and Adaptive Drive. These are very expensive options in Australia. HUD $2500.00 AUD and AD $6,500.00 AUD. Can anyone tell me categorically if these are actually worth the coin?
I also hear that a motorised tailgate is due for production by the end of the year.

I hope I can make some valuable contributions to the forum..

glad to have you here. the HUD is useful if you use the navigation, but otherwise i think it's frivolous. the adaptive drive allows adjustable suspension firmness and anti-body roll control, so it's a personal preference of whether it's worth the $6500

Nice options, I would take both options but the dealer keeps telling me not to overcapitalise on the car.. First time I have had a sales person talk me out of spending more money..
I think HUD is a good option as I use the NAV fairly often.. the adpative drive, well I like to drive hard but don't know whether it's worth the extra dollars..

i've tried it (for a little bit) and it keeps the car more firmly planted on the ground...not sure if it's worth $6500...it's cheaper in the US

For everyday driving you will probably never miss adaptive drive, but if you like to occasionally push the x and have some fun, its well worth the xtra $$. I recently took the x on a road trip and discovered just how fun adaptive drive can be. On an open, lonely road with lots of curves you can really feel the difference...it was like having my very own amusement park ride.
