Double Sided Cargo Mat

The rear floor mat arrived. The first one they sent was like the one from the E53 - raised edges, very resistant to spills but not the most elegant.

This one is reversible - non slip rubber on one side and carpet on the other. It is folded double so that when the rear seats are folded down, it can be unfolded and will cover the entire floor. There is even a flap the covers the lower portion of the tailgate.

The instructions that come with it are awful - unless you read German.

Thanks for posting. I have had one on order for several weeks. Do you know if they make it in the beige carpet on the carpet side or only gray. Also, did your post mean it can fold to accomodate when third row seats are in place or that the cover expands to cover the entire back if the 2nd row seats are folded down. Finally, what didn't you like about the lipped cover? I had one in a four runner a couple of cars ago and really liked it for the home depot runs.

Slalom,

Thanks for the pics, does it just rest on the cargo floor or is it secure using the latching eyes?

bsklar, the lipped cover was great for runs to the garden centre and home depot, as well as taking the dog to the vet etc. The problem was that it looked very utilitarian. This cover has the disadvantage of not being as good for spills, but it looks great and offers a better slip resistance when carrying briefcases, luggage, boxes etc. I may decide to get the other as well.

cpd1,

It just rests on the floor. With a carpet to carpet or the non-slip to carpet, it does not move around. Also, it is quite a bit heavier than the lipped version so gravity helps.

Thanks Slalom. Did you look at a rubber one? Look utilitarian but def best to protect the trunk floor, doesn't have the lip tho...Weathertech are supposed to be great, not available yet for the '07 X5 tho
The BMW choice is limited to the one you have and another carpet mat with a X5 logo as far as I can tell

The weathertech is available for the 07 X5. I have one. You can get the BMW one from the dealer (made by Weathertech with BMW Logo). The one directly from Weathertech does not have the logo, other than that it is exactly the same. I also have the floorliners as well. Love the product I have had them in the last thress vehicle I owned.

Other alternatives?

HI Everyone, Thanks for the postings on this, I have been searching hi and low for information on the liner. I have also talked with the folks at www.hatchbag.com and really like what they are offering for a liner. We have two larger dogs and I am concerned about the side wall protection as well as the carpet and seat backs. The only problem is that they are 8 - 10 weeks from producing anything for the E70. I was wondering if anyone out there knew of any other manufacturer that is currently making anything like this for our model? I also really like the look of the option at www.canvasback.com but again, not making anything for the new X5. I just wish there was better selection or better availability for accessories like this?

Thoughts?

Does anything come with the X5 for the back or is it exposed (normal carpet, no mat) unless you add something as an accessory?

Hi Chris,
Nothing comes standard. The dealers "usually" throw in floor mats but nothing for us for the cargo area. My goal is to find something that can cover the entire area with the seats folded down. It is nice to see pics of the BMW version so I know how it looks before I would order one, but really like the "hatchbag" option that I mentioned above.

Thanks for the info slalom. Last question, how does the lip work? Is it just folded and you pull it when you open the lower part or is it attached to the hatch?
