I just Ordered X5 3.0d in Chicago

Hi everyone

I picked up an E70 3.0si for my wife in December. She loves it and I love it. I have been driving a 2006 Subaru Outback and I am tired of it. I have been waiting years to buy a BMW diesel. My dealer said that they will have the 3.0d model available sometime this year between October and December. I went there yesterday and formally had him write my order so that I will get their 1st allocated car. I can't wait.

I am going to skip the 3rd seat. I am planning on including premium and sport packages. Your comments are welcome on these options!

I would like to hear from some 3.0d owners outside of the US with comments.

Thanks!!

3rd seat?

I ordered my X late March, now it is on its way. When I Ordered it I looked at about 10 they had on the lot. Though not one had everything I wanted ALL of them had the 3rd seat. Personally I find it small and nearly useless, but, if the dealer ordered all of them with it, that should be telling you something. I’m also not a big fan of BMW’s navi, but, on resale the first question is, “doses it have navi”. Just a thought; yes I ordered 3rd and navi.

Can you order the E70 diesel in the US with a manual gearbox? I have a '05 man' diesel, you won't be disappointed. They go like the clappers and sip at the fuel.

No price yet. I just want to be the #1 order. I was their #1 E70 order last June.

I am ordering at Knauz. Dave is my sales person. I like them. They do not play any games on price. They just provide outstanding service and respect to their customer. That's what I'm looking for. Plus, I live about a half mile from the dealership. Part of the sales tax goes towards the Village of Lake Bluff where we live.

I expect the diesel to cost about a grand more. My dealer said that the car will definately be here for 2008 and likely no later than Dec. 31st. My son wants to do factory delivery again. He is 8 and had a blast there.

I just took my wife's E70 3.0 out tonignt for a drive. Wow what a beautiful car. It does not have the sport package and still handles wonderfully. I love it!

I thought at first that I would order sport package but now am wondering if it is really necessary.

I am also trying to decide if I should go 'basic' with leatherette seats and skip the third seat. I like the durability of the leatherette. However, I have not seen an E70 with leatherette. I would appreciate the comments of anyone who has seen this interior.

Cool

how was the deal at Patrick BMW. Did they give more than a grand off?

Cool to see what it's like without the 3rd seat.
Nice to have spare!
