Ha... you kid, but my 8 year old and 11 year old actually maneuver the RSE in our '06 760Li with ease; via the rear iDrive interface
My '08 X5 problem is that it came WITHOUT the RSE remote. The dealer ordered a replacement remote, I picked it up, installed batteries, and it doesn't work! The led flashes whenever buttons are pressed, but there's no response from the RSES.
Jayo, another member on this boardm posted the same issue last month, but received no responses. I hope he's resolved this issue and will PM me back with the answer.
I'm suspecting that maybe a replacement remote needs some sort of dealer programming, I don't know. What blows is that you'd THINK the dealers would know this. I'm finding that the folks at my local dealership don't know much of anything about the product they sell. For instance, last May I bought an '07 M5 rather than the M6 I wanted because I was told the m6 came in SMG only. SMG is nice, but I really wanted the 6-speed manual and was told that the M6 didn't come that way. Shortly after the purchase, I was building one for the heck of it online, and guess what... there was the 6-speed manual option!!!
I'm new to BMW as of last May. I bought an '07 M5 (my first BMW) and an '06 760Li (my 2nd BMW--new on the lot) last May. Last month I bought this '08 X5 4.8i. I'm loving these vehicles more so than the Numerous Lexus vehicles I've owned in the recent past. But, I HAVE to give it to the guys at my local Lexus dealer.... they KNOW their stuff!
I hope our dealer just sucks and that this isn't a widespread BMW issue.
