Guys I'm confused...where is the DVD slot for the RSE? Also, whats wrong with the remot control?

Does anyone have a set of pictures showing the DVD screen in use and folded away?

Can the screen play the regular T.V signal that the I-drive display plays?

Well, the SA called late this afternoon and said they'd have to let the software update overnight. According to him, the "new" version is 25.01. The SA said it "may...hopefully" fix the problem with the RES DVD.

I'm not optimisitc. I think the latest software version is actually 25.04. Ugh.

No one knows if the rear screen can play the cars built in T.V input while on the move?

Failure. The flash did nothing to solve the DVD problem. The thing is practically useless. The latest problem: 50% of the time, I can't even get the DVD to eject. I have to turn off the car and sit for a while, then re-start and press the eject button, sometimes multiple times. Eventually, it ejects.

This issue is ridiculous, and it should not be present in a $70K car. What's worse is, NO ONE KNOWS WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT! My SA is clueless.

I called BMW NA, and all the rep could do was set up another apointment at the service center. No answers.

What a joke. At least you are lucky in the sense that your warranty period essentially just started. I had a problem with the climate control in my 7 series years ago and the only thing that saved my bacon from literally thousands of dollars of diagnosis & 'repair' (when we all very well know it's really a swap the part out and see if the problem gets fixed mentality) was that the problem was well documented in the service records and never resolved when the car was in warranty so they didn't charge me additional money to continue with the repair out of warranty.

My suggestion to you is relatively simple. Tell them to change the unit, period. This won't fix the more advanced problem (at least until BMW releases a new version of the DVD changer, which they will (just look at how many CD changers they had over the years)) but it should fix the disk getting stuck problem that other people don't seem to be experiencing so much.

The two major issues regarding the RSE that I am insisting to be resolved; I purchased the RSE option based on the advertised six disc DVD changer, and the advertised iDrive control of the RSE. Neither are present in my RSE. My other minor gripe is that the DVD will not continue playing from the previous point prior to shutting off and restarting the vehicle.

Being still within the first 30 days of ownership, and understanding that it is a brand new model, I am excercising patience. But if the communication to me from BMW doesn't start soon, my patience will soon wear thin.

Never heard of "PUMA" Wonder what it stands for?

I don't think your complaints are small ones, I think they are probably ones that other people (enthusiasts) also care about. My guess is that BMW will update the DVD system many times in the lifespan of the E70 and all I can say is that you will probably need to wait.

If you look at realoem, you might notice that they have already specified the DVD with a part number that ends 3/07. This of course essentially implies that a new part will supercede it (no part number is given yet on realoem, though I'm sure the dealers probably already have that information). Another interesting find is that a DVD changer is shown. However judging by the mounting bracket (which looks identical to the CD changer mounting bracket that mounts in the glovebox) my guess is that the DVD changer fits in the govebox and not in the rear console. Maybe that means it can run DVD's on the Nav display (if so, cool!). Perhaps it runs the DVD's on the rear display, or maybe even both? Who knows. It would be nice to hear from someone who has it.

Anyway, good luck and keep us informed.

Thanks for pointing this out! I'll forward over to my CA and see what he thinks.

Thanks!
