Round Vision/ Top View available Soon

A round vision system with Top view will soon be available on the X5 as a retrofit kit.

4 cameras will be installed on the X5 :
- 1 in teh Front
- 2 in the external side Mirors
- 1 in the Back

This will allow the driver to see the X5 from the Top with all surounding obstacles. This option is already listed in the German accessories.

I just came back from my french dealer who could find this kit in the BMW system but without Price an availability date.
The reference are : 66_0107 ROUND VISION/ 66 21 0 430 523

Can somedody help us find out when that kit will be availble and at what price ?

More Important, It seems that this system will NOT be compatible with the Factory Rear Camera. Can our friends in the US and Germany check this ?

This imformation is important to me since I have a X5 on order.

Thanks

I wonder if this the reason why current rearview camera is so bad.

I saw a demo of a Nissan round Vison/ Top View on French TV and it was amazing !
You could see your car from the Top and see all the objects / obstacles that were on the floor.

This is a X5 kit although the picture shows a 5 Serie.

Can someone help me to find out when it will be available and If I need to remove the rear camera that I ordered with my X5 ?

Thanks

Gilles,

This feature mentionned in the Press documents back in November did catch my attention too.
GCF
"Apart from a back-up camera, the new BMW X5 is available for the first time with Round Vision and Top View. Round Vision incorporates not only a back-up camera, but also a front-end camera for even better observation of traffic coming from the side, for example when leaving an exit or driveway, and provides enhanced visibility when manoeuvring. All of the cameras are controlled directly from the central iDrive Controller.
Top View facilitates the process of parking the vehicle by means of additional cameras integrated in the exterior mirrors, offering the driver a clear view of front side areas otherwise difficult to see.
All accessories are tailored perfectly in their material and look to the new BMW X5 and fulfil the BMW Group’s high standards of quality and safety. They are available from BMW Retail Outlets and Service Partners"

I have asked my dealer to try to find more information and will let you guys know, not sure how it will interact with the Back up camera I have ordered tho.

The round vision camera (at least for the driver's side) has already been listed for the X3 for quite some time. So the E70 isn't the first BMW to get it. I have yet to hear of anyone actually having one in their car though. Similarly the front view camera is also impossible to find anywhere and after a ton of searching I've yet to find the appropriate instructions to install it on an X5. US dealers are completely clueless on this issue as are the vast majority of posters on the board. Unfortunately the people linked to dealers such as Morristown BMW have provided no help on this matter either.

Well I've yet to see it in any US catalog. Realoem doesn't even have it listed, and it's pretty up to date.
