Shutting Down Electronics....
Hi All. I took delivery of my 3.0 Sport/Tech+ Saph on Black yesterday, and I have a question for the group.
In other cars that I've had, when you shut the engine, the electronics usually stay "on" (like the radio continuing to play) until you open your door, then everything shuts down. In the new X, when you press the STOP button, the engine shuts down, but the idrive stuff stays on until..... 1) I "lock" the car using the remote or the comfort access. 2) I press the STOP button a second time. In other words, if I just do one STOP, the radio is still playing after I close the door and does not go off until I do one of the above. I assume that there is still the 10 minute battery saver, but I haven't waited that long yet. What do all of you do when you exit your vehicle? Is there a preferred method? The manual does not seem to mention this - or, I at least have not found it yet...... Thanx, Pat

a quick push of the stop button will shut off the engine and put u in radio mode. then you'll have to hit the stop button again to turn of everything or everything will shutoff when u lock the car.
u could also hold the stop button in for a few seconds and everything will shut off.

So if you don't want to lock it because it's in the garage you have to hold the stop button or turn the electronics off manually?
Isn't there some kind of auto shutoff to save the battery?

If you put your comfort access key into the ignition, the "accessory" function will turn off when you remove the key; ie. you press the stop button to turn off the engine. Then, eject the key, and it will shut off.
If you do not put your key in, then the above statements are correct. |
