Worth it on the E70?

It will help your re-sale value. I assume that there are a lot people out there like me who wouldnt buy a BMW without a sports package.

i got the sport pack on my 3 series, and ended up replacing the coilovers, sway bars & wheels... doh!!

I think the sport pack on the E70 comes with run flat tires doesnt it? cool option but makes the ride waaay too harsh from my experience w/ my Lexus SC430. i replaced the run flats on the SC w/ some regular high perf tires & the ride is MUCH better now.

In case you haven't read, BMW has redone the suspension lately to cope with the RFT. Take the E90 3-series for example, designed with the RFT in mind. The ride isn't harsh in any way, shape, or form.

Run flats come standard on all 3-series and X5s, regardless of equipment level. However, a spare tire also comes with the X5 unless you order the 3rd row punishm- I mean kiddie seats.

My 2007 X5 with the Sport Package and 19" wheels rides firm but very comfortable. I love the handling and it's only uncomfortable when you hit a pothole which is to be expected. I would not hesitate if i was ordering another X5 to get the Sports Package.

I'd never buy an option to improve the resale value, because this will rarely happen. In general, options depreciate much more than the base vehicle. People will say they want x and y, but in the end many will opt for a vehicle without these to get a lower price. They want them, but they don't want to pay for them. You won't get anywhere near $4,000 back when you sell the X5.

That said, I'd personally go with the sport package, but then I care a lot about handling. It depends on your personal priorities.

I think having certain options can help the sale of your used vehicle, not so much the value, but the desiability to begin with. for example, If I was looking for a used BMW, I would be looking to buy a used onw w/ GPS.
