rear door adjustment

i went to dealer today to have rear doors adjusted, because they do not shut close properly. someone tried adjusting for ten minutes but wasn't able to fix. his response was that "it must be the rubber seal around the doors, after a while the problem should go away by its self." WHAT?; is that possible?

...if so, then the rubber seals will just be deformed...

qc= quality control. The dealer needs to mechanically realign the door, unless the frame, door or hinges aren't manufactured properly.

exactly...my rear passanger door is about 1/2" out from the side panel. The front passanger door hangs occasionally. I dont notice any xtra wind noise, but it just looks bad.

BTW- I am scheduled for service next week and this is on the list. It should have never left the factory like this though. One walk around the car and its obvious.

I guess it was a really bad idea that BMW open a factory here in the states... QC just aren't the same as in Germany.

If this is true shame on us...there is no reason why we cant have the same standards here.

they should be able to adjust it for you. I had a misaligned front passenger door and I think they just re-adjusted the striker (I think that's what it's called...the piece where the door locks onto) and now it closes fine.
