I have noticed on a number of threads where members new X5's have arrived at their destination dockyard that there is no Paint or body protection. I have also noticed on some of the images displayed many swirl marks on the paintwork due to the aformentioned paint protection not being applied at the factory
.
I recently attended the E70 UK launch at my local BMW dealer and saw 4 customers cars awaiting collection which had horrendous fallout and inground contaminants in the paint. This is not acceptable on a £50,000 car.
In the early days of production BMW used to ship the X5 (E53) from Spatanburg in a full zipped up "body suit" to protect the paint and body from minor dings and scratches, What has happended to this factory process now. Is BMW cutting corners to save money?
Living near to the Land Rover Manufacturing Plant in the UK I see their vehicles leaving the factory for destinations all over the world, these vehicles are dressed in a bonnet cover, bumper protection and protection to the door/door handle surfaces. I have also witnessed Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Mercedes vehicles all en route to their destination with full body covers to protect the paintwork.
What member/owner wants to drive around in a dull, scratched and swirl painted £50,000 Car? I would advise any members about to collect their new E70 shortly or in the near future to check their paint finish for scratches, swirls and paint contamination at delivery. I for sure will be checking the paint finish on my E70 prior to delivery.
COME ON BMW CUT THE PENNY PINCHING! GIVE OUR VEHICLES THE PROTECTION THEY DESERVE.
