I can understand that but they have to take care of the customers that have paid the car already and don't have it.

Great car the M6!!! I have a 645 and my brother has a M5, great engine!!!

Thanks for the suggestion, I may ask them to take the sensor from another demo X5 they have but I'm not sure if they would do it, and being a used part I'm not sure I want it... I would prefer a new sensor.

Get the GM or whoever you can at the dealer on your side and deal with it. These seem like 'first run' problems, the software could help, but unfortunately they take a while (coming from someone who owned one of the first VW Touaregs It could be worse...)

I think you misunderstood me. I am suggesting that they "borrow" the part from a showroom car. Not even a test car because once removed, the car will not function. Remember, this part is coded; and therefore, when your coded part arrives from Germany, they will have to recall you to reinstall the part again.

They will do it if they treasure your business.

They gave me an option of a E70 3.0d or a 535d touring.
I chose the touring. My wife is riding on my 645

You're right, I misunderstood you. That's a good idea, they even gave me the opportunity to loan me a E70 test car so...
If it isn't a part that's very difficult to take off and put on I don't see why they wouldn't do it.
I think that they treasure my business, me, my brother and my dad have at the moment a total of 6 BMWs sold by them

Its always better to drive your own ride; be it responsibility or other matters. It should be quite easy to replace. The part in my M6 got fitted and tested in less than 1/2 a day.

If they treasure your family business like you say, then go for it!!!

I should warn you. If the breakdown sequence is similar, get ready for a bigger problem; the DSC control unit. It happened to me. This will cause your ride to disengage from gear into neutral and then when you think you should shut down and restart, its never gonna wake up again....without help from the dealer. This is a more difficult part and the dealers will not cannibalise...so its a loaner for a couple of weeks.

I talked to them and they said that although they can replace the part and the car gets fixed, the warnings won't go away because the part is coded to another car.
Did you have this problem?
If it is like they say, if I have a similar problem it will not warn me since the lights and messages are already on...

Is the DSC problem you are saying the same as this that I already have ?

Everything went, and I mean everything. The car had a mind of its own. The most noticable indication is that all error messages on the i-drive screen begins popping up, one after another. The M6 does not have 4 x 4, but the DSC and transmission error msgs were also mentioned. The wipers went on, the signal lights began flashing, like I said; the car had a mind of its own. If they say its the steering angle sensor, then thats the one. I didn't have any problem once the cannibalised part was installed. There was no "rejection" to the transplant, if thats what you are asking.

However, if you're not too sure about it, then just go ahead with the loaner. There are advantages either way; the choice is yours.

So you're saying that they took the sensor from another car, installed on yours and the car didn't give any error messages, although the part was coded for another car?

Thanks again Edlee for your help.
They told me yesterday that the sensor will come sooner, it will be here friday.
They also told me that it has a different part number indicating that it is a new type of sensor that will replace the older one.
