Exclamation international e70 prices

hi guys,

this is my first thread and the reason i joined was because i was planning on purchasing a new e70.

i live in new delhi, india and since petrol (gas) is pretty expensive here, about 5 US dollars a gallon, i've decided that the 3.0d will suffice.

the base price of the e70 3.0d that will be imported into india is for INR 6,290,000 which equates to about 156,000 USD. I know this is a rip-off considering you can get the same car in america for about 50k, but there is a 116% import duty here as the government wants to protect the local market.

other bmw prices: 3 series is about 74,000, 5 series is about 112,000 dollars, 7 is about 210,000.

The base price includes park distance control, panoramic roof.

I was wondering what the prevailing price is in countries other than the united states?

i am attaching the pdf file which was sent to me by the dealer.

any responses glady appreciated..

thanks!

i have a feeling that the prices for south eas asia (indonesia, singapore, malaysia, vietnam) and south asia (india) are all roughly the same..

the price structure should be the other way around, being more expensive in the west than the east.

per capita income in india is 600 dollars a per. so for an average indian to afford an x5, they would have to save for 260 years.

they told me that delivery would be in october or november! that is such a long wait! what bs!

UK E70 Prices

The latest prices for the UK are as below:

These are on the road, base prices including delivery & Value Added Tax (@17.5%) - no options added.

3.0si SE - £39,905 ($79,291US)

4.8i SE - £49,945 ($99,241US)

3.0d SE - £40,085 ($79,649US)

Exchange rate at noon 23rd May - £1 = $1.9870

When I spec'd the 3.0D E70 to match my 3.0D Sport E53 it came in at £54,275 ($107,844US), about £3k more than the E53, and that's not even a 'Sport' model which won't appear here until the Autumn. I expect the 'Sport' version to add around £5k more, but until the info on what is and is not included in the base UK sport spec it's difficult to see what the final cost might be.

Is the import duty the same on a new or used car? Maybe you can buy a "used" car to save on duty and taxes. Usually once a vehicle is registered, customs will classify it as pre-owned. Not sure about the laws there...
