exactly the reason I don't get the clear bra for my BMW or Pcar...
I would rather have rock chips than blade marks from where the clear bra is cut on the car.. and besides, I don't really love the way clear bra looks.

There is a place here in Sydney Australia that uses 3M or a product called VentureTape/Ventureshield... I don't do a lot of country driving .. mainly city so I don't think I need to invest in this after all...I have to get my car first so maybe I should concentrate on that first !!!

I had the Clearshield done on my 04 and i held up well. Itwas an early 04 so the instller had problems with the kit an had to re-do it - nothing like hat happened to your E70. I did not have E70 done because I was not sure that they would get it right.

Having paid for my undergrad degree working in the accounting department of a car dealer, I can assure you that the non-manufacturer add ons had the highest margin. Paint protection was the best - a $50 wax job for $199.

Good luck with the dealer, frankly if they won't fix it I would raise the matter with BMW Canada. They are not really happy about dealers selling non-BMW products.

Keep in mind this is an isolated incident from an installer who obviously doesn't know what he's doing. An experienced installer uses a computer cut film for your particular model and installs it on the vehicle. It should never be cut ON the vehicle. When done properly, it should not be noticeable. I think it looks a lot better than those plastic bug deflectors, and is the least visible way to protect the front end of your car.

I bought my X5 from BMW Toronto ... a corporate store ... and they totally tried to load me up with the non-BMW stuff. Boomerangs, paint sealants, third party tinting, you name it... Infact, when I declined everything they still gave me a folder full of non-BMW add on brochures to take home and they gave me a follow up call asking me if I was sure that I didn't want any of the extra stuff.

The business office pushes hard because of the obscene profit on the stuff.

I got the 3M clear mask when I bought my car a couple of weeks ago and people can not tell it is on. It is all in the installation and cutting on the car seems crazy. Even if it is an off site from the dealer I would think the dealer, if they were any good, would put pressure on them. In my case I paid the deaerl and he was the agent but again it turned out great.

Can you submit some pics for us to see?

Can they buff out the scratches? I had a mechanic's zipper tear up both qtr panels while working on the engine and they were able to buff the scratches right out!!! I was amazed!

Thumbs down

Here is an update : Dealer re-applyed the 3M. It is worse than before. I demanded that they pay to have it done correctly at a shop of my choice. They refused and gave me attitude and excuses. Do not buy from BUDD'S BMW!!!! They will not stand behind their work or take any accountability for their work or contractors. Now what are my options? BMW Canada said that it is an aftermarket product and there is nothing they can do!
