auto liftgate was supposed to be ready by april 2007. strange.

what is autohold?? is that the autopark which 'parks' your car until you step on the gas after a stop?

there must be some other new features... i'm hoping laser guided cruise control that keeps the proper distance... or better yet, something like the new S class, which does full stop and go in traffic automatically.

Adjustable ride height would be nice.

Your right,

Having adjustable ride height in the old X5 (E53) was good, droping it I think was a big mistake. The self-levelling suspension with Adaptive drive is good but having the new E70 ride height set at 212mm ground clearence is a little poor.

I have to drive to my beach house each weekend which means I have to do 28klm of actual beach driving (no road) and with the E53 I had 225mm clearence and that was bad enough. Low tide is ok but at full tide it is rally driving through soft powder beach sand and I often get bogged.

If you follow the tracks made by a Toyota Landcruiser they have 230mm clearence means I will bottom out.

If the belly of the X5 is sitting on the sand because the powder beach sand is 300mm deep the only thing that works is our old trusty G60 1978 Nissan 4 wheel, it pulls a amy tank out.

The Q7 Audi air suspesion lifts it to 260mm, 212mm for the E70 is just not enough. I have to hit the cuttings onto the beach at around 80kph to make the 150 metre's dash across the soft sand to hit the hard beach.

Low tide is ok but the wife does not like the 14km of rally driving at high tide ducking the waves that pin you up against the sand dunes.
