If the belly of the X5 is sitting on the sand because the powder beach sand is 300mm deep the only thing that works is our old trusty G60 1978 Nissan 4 wheel, it pulls a amy tank out.
The Q7 Audi air suspesion lifts it to 260mm, 212mm for the E70 is just not enough. I have to hit the cuttings onto the beach at around 80kph to make the 150 metre's dash across the soft sand to hit the hard beach. Low tide is ok but the wife does not like the 14km of rally driving at high tide ducking the waves that pin you up against the sand dunes. |

and agree, adjustable ride height was stupid to remove from the 2007 model... and one reason i haven't bought it yet. |

My city peak driving is 9.3ltr per 100klm and nearly 8.0ltr per 100klm country with 500nm of torque. Now off the start line it is a little slower than a X5 V8 but from say 30kph to 90kph it keeps up. now if you re-chip it you can get 600nm. So my day driver is a X5 diesel, and my other car is a sports V8, but at the end of the day the X5 is used every day and on weekend. The one thing you can be assured of is when you do get the diesel powered SUV and other sports diesel vehicles you wonder why it took nearly 9 years to get them and as each other why? I too vote for diesel
Hopefully twin turbo diesel at that! I deferred my purchase because I think a diesel engine makes a lot of sense for the X5, despite the low relatively popularity of diesel engines in the U.S. I think that will change soon with the advent of new low sulfur diesel fuel.

, also the idea that a diesel (european) doesn't have to sound like a set of wrenches striking a block of cast iron.

Hopefully:
1. diesel biturbo 2. auto lift gate for the rear 3. camel interior color option in the US 4. night vision 5. improvements over all the little nuances experienced by current E70 owners (back up camera in the dark, shifting issues, etc.) Last edited by idoc; 05-30-2007 at 01:38 PM. |
