The "PDC" screen we are refering to is shown on page 81 of the manual, between #5 and #6.

The PDC screen can not be set to display at the same time as the rear camera.
What are you refering to is the overlay options...does not work as well as the PDC.

I think he is refering to the PDC audible beeping and camera together. We want the PDC car image showing on the screen on one side and the live images from the rear camera showing on the other. I't can't be done with the current software configuration.

Yes, I was referring to the PDC audible beeping and the camera together.

Hi,

fortunately, otherwise the camera would be even more useless than it already is.

I am viewing now the PDC display. Sadly the E70´s camera is far away from E53´s. No idea why they changed.

Ciao
Alex

Has anyone figured out a quick way to alternate between the PDC screen and the backup camera? Without having to go through all the iDrive menu selections? Generally given the choice between the two screens I prefer the PDC screen, but in those rare instances when I do want the backup camera instead it's usually too much of a hassle to dig into the iDrive menus to change it and unfortunately you can't program any of the memory/direct select buttons for it...

I brought it in to JMK BMW Again yesterday. The tech tested it with me for a good 20 minutes but could not duplicate the issue. He took the car and performed a diagnostics. Twenty mins later, I was told that there was a loose cable and it was fixed. Today it was working all day till I get home. The screen flickered for about 2 minutes when I put the gear in Reverse then it displayed a hazy green screen then went totally blank. This is really annoying. I will bring the car to Circl BMW at Eatontown and hope they can fix the car there. I will NEVER EVER go back to JMK BMW.

Not having Rear View Camera and PDC together is indeed very annoying, I've also noted that when having my demo for 1 day.
The interesting thing is that the manual on http://www.xoutpost.com/pdf/e70/05c2_...w%20Camera.pdf
describes something special which I have NOT seen working in my demo:

Obstacle Markings

Obstacle markings shown in the real camera image are partly transparent overlays true to scale of the obstacle detected by the PDC.
The obstacle distribution in the area behind the vehicle is shown as a 3D graphic. Its form, position and color depend on the distance
to each of the four PDC sensors in the bumper. Through corresponding visualization with form and color, the way the obstacle markings
are represented gives the driver a spatial perspective of the obstacle distribution about the area behind the vehicle.
The view corresponds to the virtual PDC view.

If this would work well (but I have not seen this in my demo), it could be a good alternative.

On the other hand, it doesn't solve the problem when you move forward, you are then still missing the Front PDC visual/graphical display.

The suggestion from Dhalver Xeno is actually also something I tried to do, and would also be a good "Solution" but indeed this doesn't work.

The Rear view camera seems more of a pain than an aid....

The interesting thing with this Backup Camera is that it always works the first time I used it in the morning to back out of the garage. However, after drving for at least 10-20 minutes is when I will start seeing the flickering/blank screen issue which sometimes gives out a Camera malfunction error display.

This is a very nice feature that I use every DAY...of course at night the camera is black so it does not do much good.
