I don't think it's going to happen until next year, the car has only just been launched in markets like Europe. Also the engine itself is in short supply (it hasn't yet be launched in all European markets) so that will have some bearing too. It's not BMW's normal style to change the engines quite so soon ....it gives a nice sales boost in the second year or so of a models life to introduce a new engine, particularly in this case as it may well replace the 4.8i.

The 335i is here is Europe but the 535i hasn't been launched yet. I don't think the X5 will get it until after the 535i is launched in Europe. There is also supposed to be a 135i coming too...that will be some car with that engine in a 1 series.

I asked my dealer. He says he hasn't heard anything about a TT for the X5, but confirmed a diesel will be introduced this year in North America.

Per my info X6 will get the twin turbo before X5 does. Same deal for V8. X6 is comng early 2008 so expect X5 in later 2008.

Twin turbo 535i has been on the roads in US for 2 months now. I am not sure these events will be related.

Who really knows, but the 3.0si engine has to go as it is too weak on the highway. The natural progression will be to the TT engine - just a question of when.

True. But there is a shortage of the engine, as I understand it the 6 series is next in line for the introduction of the engine. I would guess the 5 series in Europe after that although as the diesel engines are so much more popular maybe not. Given that it's a new model I would think BMW feel the X5 is the model least in "need" of it.
