marengo...what problems are you having with your X? I too got a 328i loaner.

It really worries me how many problems I've been hearing about on this messageboard. Granted, a messageboard is a place for people to voice their problems, but the parts delay and almost everyone is getting the "parts are backordered from germany" tune.

It amazes me that BMW can build a car quicker than they can get parts for one. My car will be down for almost 6 weeks before I can even think about getting it back.

Sorry. didnt mean to threadjack or anything.
My 07 3.0 X just burnt out its second CCC unit in a week. Crossing my fingers for the third unit to burn out so I can return it.

My appologies too StumpyPete if I'm thread jacking...but I guess we have some what relevant issues together...

My X also burned a CCC. I didn't know what the heck that was, but they told me each is coded to the VIN number, so its not a part they can just pull out of another X and put it in ours.

Have you asked BMW for a new car yet? I did ask since my car has been in for 4 weeks now, but their response to give them a chance to fix it. They don't expect my CCC to come in until first week of August. I would have pushed them harder for a new car, but my dealer doesn't even have any optioned 4.8i's...so my only option is to wait right now.

Grrrrrr....

Chris

Long story short:
4/1 into dealership with idrive not working; dealer said it was faulty ccc
4/5 dealership installed new ccc; idrive works but at snails pace
4/6 new ccc burnt out while at dealership; another new ccc ordered
today: waiting for new ccc to come in and be installed; dealer still not sure why x is burning out ccc units like a toaster

me: please dont find out problem and let me upgrade to 4.8

No Problemo - it brings an extra sense of cameraderie to the board.

Transfer Box finally arrived at dealership w/c 30th July. Xena went in for replacement on 9th/10th (first available slot).

The new transfer box didn't solve the problem. Dealership took a control unit out of their demonstrator, and hey presto! - problem disappered. So all along it was the control box.

Unfortunately, they couldn't leave the control box in Xena, as it needs to be properly coded to the chassis number. Now waiting for a replacement, hopefully we won't have to wait that long for it....but I'm not holding my breath.

If it was me, I would've replaced the control box first, but as it is warranty the dealer had to do what BMW UK said, otherwise they wouldn't get paid for the work.

My dealer has behaved in an exemplary manner however, they have given me loan cars when required, picked me up and dropped me off at airport etc. And now they are pushing BMW to give me some form of compensation, I need some serious dosh from BMW to make me happy again.

Yesterday, Xena was finally repaired - 10 weeks after problem occurred. In the end it was the xDrive control unit that was at fault.
