Running Boards?

Hi Everyone. i just purchased a new black 3.0 about 3 weeks ago. Does anyone know if it is possible to add running boards post purchase? Are there any aftermarket ones or do I have to go OEM? Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Don't bother to get them... They are more of a pain than they are worth... The boards make the car look nicer but the functionality of them is not there...

Thanks for the help guys. Actually the X is for my wife; the M is for me. She is kind of short. Not little people short but short nonetheless. I like the look of them and it might be functional for her. I got the mod bug and cant leave anything alone. I would put wheels on the lawnmower if I could find someone who powdercoats 6" rims :P.

Problematic

Just got our new X5 with running boards from the factory. I would take them off if I could. totally useless except for reaching to wash windows. Everytime my wife or I get out, our leg brushes against the running board and gets pants dirty. The car is not high enough to need them. I think you will regret them. Just my $.02.

Hmm. Thats too bad. I really like the way the running boards look on a black x. oh well, i guess i will just have to spend the money on an aero kit instead.

Yes you can get the running boards fitted by the dealer, the car i ordered was supposed to come with them and when it arrived it didn't have them, the dealer rang bmw and on this model they can be fitted. As to them being worth it or not is up to you.

You can add or remove the sport running boards. They are more for looks but I like them. I also hope they keep sray off the lower door panels to a degreee. I know as an option they are $300. As a dealer installed probably more but I do not think it is much to install them either.
