Too bad you can't see it in person...we were very lucky. When we went to the local European launch, two of the six on display had the tobacco interior, and we both agreed we had made the right decision.

Good luck! I remember when DH and I were trying to choose our interior color, we were having the same difficulty you are...it's just really tough to get a good read on this color based on photos.

I have Tobacco in my E73 and really enjoy it. My E53 had black interior and while nice, I prefered something a little different.

The link from my original post is below with several interior pictures.

"question for all Tobacco interior owners.. "

i am an owner. i had an 03 x5 and never got any complements on my black interior. i get compliments all the time on the tobacco. its different. the vast majority of x5s have grey/black interiors. tobacco stands out, looks great, and feels great with the nevada. pics dont really do it justice. it looks a lot darker than pics unless in direct bright sun. and most interior amateur pics use a flash, just like direct sunlight

I think that has to be it... the direct light makes it look shiny and a bad shade of brightish (dark) brown.. I'll hold judgement until I see it, but I'm thinking I'm going to like it.

We have a Black Sapphire with Tobacco Napa leather and it's absolutely STUNNING. Pictures here and in the brochures do it absolutely no justice at all. Everyone at the dealer swarmed the car when we came to pick it up and went on and on about how great the color is. Like others have mentioned, we get compliments from strangers as well. The color is so creamy and rich and is really just unparalleled. We really did not like it until we saw it in person and we were convinced right then and there. For what it's worth, we have bamboo trim and the 3 colors (black, bamboo and tobacco) work marvelously with one another.

The *only* thing I would change is that it would be easier if the carpets were black. We have all seasons mats so the carpet is covered anyway. It would also make the rich leather stand out more. Nevertheless, I'd choose this color again in a HEARTBEAT.

I never see it directly, but I also ordered Tobacco exlusive leather. I'm confident was a good choice....even if the delivery is potponed because of it.

Where is your delivery supposed to be? I only placed my order last week and I'm being told 3 weeks total to delivery.

Wow, three weeks it's a dream in Europe. I placed the order last April, supposed delivery end of July. Now the delear informed me that the expected delivery time is delayed to August/September, due toTobacco choice. It seem that in Europe each BMW dealer has a certain number of available options per year (rate), if the rate are exceeded this automatically generate a delay.

By the way, this morning I read about the new SD engine, this make me sadden, I ordered the 3.0si...if possible I try to replace the order, even if I know they willl never accept.

I spend a lot of time in Milano, and I know with the price of gas in Italy, I can see why you're sad! It's funny how tobacco is hard to get in Europe, and easy (or I think it is) in the US, but yet Saddle Brown is impossible in the US and easy in Europe.

Yes gasoline as well diesel, but mainly I'm "sad" concerning car prices in Europe: an X5 3.0si basic version it cost about 73.000 USD (including 20% VAT), and if you add some foundamental options it's easy go over 100.000 USD!!! I'm sure that with 100.000$ interesting cars can be purchased in the USA, isn't it?
