Indeed, that's exactly the reason I didn't order a sunroof. The only factory install option for DVD player is at knee height on the centre console - no good at all for the 3rd row passengers.
I was torn between fitting four headrest screens and the roof mounted one - mainly because I was worried about cutting in to the roof lining (even though I've done it a couple of times before). But I must say, fitting a roof mounted screen is 10 times easier than fitting headrest screens, if a little more nerve racking. It is also much easier to get a professional looking finish - because basically the hole you have to cut to accomodate the mounting plate is much smaller than the DVD player itself, so you have quite a big margin of error for your cutting, knowing that your mistakes will be covered once the player is in place (unless you're _really_ way off with the cutting!).
All you need to do is make sure you cut your hole so that the plate will fit nicely on to the main cross section / beam that runs from one side of the roof to the other directly between the pillars between the front and back doors. The mounting plate screws on to this, well away from the roof itself so you can be sure you don't screw too far and puncture the outer panel. There is plenty of empty space above the roof lining to run the wires. The only slightly tricky part was getting the wires out from the edge above the door - it's just trial and error (I'm sure there is a better way), but it means you don't have to take the roof lining off at all which is what I wanted. Once you have the wires down the edge, it's just case of "tucking them in" behind the rubber seal between the roof lining and the side panels - they are surprisingly flexible and I had no problem at all runnings the wires all the way along the roof to the front window pillar, down the side, under the glove box, along the centre console and to the rear of the centre console. The wires are completely hidden and I did not have to remove any panels at all. Then all was left was to pop the cigarrete lighter plastic panel out (came out very easily, just pops out), then from inside I was able to push the side carpet panel away from the centre console (again, came off surprisinly easy), and I had my audio and power cables inside the centre console. I chopped the 12V cigarette lighter cable, fitted a small screw terminal block, reattached the cigarette lighter, and tapped in to the terminal block for the DVD player power. Then, from inside the centre console I drilled a small (approx 5mm) hole right in the back corner, and was able to feed the audio cables from under the console inside, where I connected a 3.5mm Jack and plugged the audio in to the aux-input. Inside the bottom of the centre console is a small rubber mat, this was put back in place after plugging the audio cable in, so it's almost hidden.
If anybody is interested, I could take a few more detailed photos of the install and highlight where abouts I've run the wires.
