How do you people do it? That's $120 US for a loaded 3.0?? I paid $80 (tax inclusive) for a loaded (really loaded) 4.8i!

Are you all paid twice as much as us?

The poor folks in the UK have to pay stratospheric prices for BMWs due to all the taxes and import fees.

We in the US get BMWs for chump change, and BMW continues to lose profit margins here due to the weakening USD. BMW ought to just give us fewer standard features and charge us a bit more.

Thanks for your kind comments.

Regarding the price thing, I think its exagerated at the moment because of the $ to £ exchange rate. We certainly do pay a lot more than in the US for our cars though regardless of exchange rates. Some of its tax, some of its a rip off.

US is a huge market but still I reckon they are struggling with the $ exchange rates at present.

However, I am looking forward to my forthcoming holiday to San Fran + Vegas - got a great rate for buying dollars.

I grew up in the SF bay area, it's great.. and pricey, but for you now with the weak dollar it will indeed be a bargain. Too bad we don't make much in the USA anymore or this weak dollar could help our exports.. I guess the BMW X5 is technically an export? or is it?

Looking forward to SF a lot. Trouble is the father in law will be driving my new (<1k miles) X5 while we are away! He's smiling like a cheshire cat already.

Staying down near the bay (the argonaut). Was gonna jump in a cab to get from the airport - or do you locals know a better way?
