Startup delay for "accept"
sometimes I get into the car, and by the time I get it running and in reverse, the "accept" is up, I hit it, the camera is on. Other times, I get backed out and well under way before the "accept" is there, it shows the main menu instead. It's as though it takes 5 seconds sometimes, and maybe 30 another. Is there some magic to this I'm missing, something about whether I unlock or lock or hit something first, etc.? Or is there some amount of time that it changes from "sleep" where it starts up fast to "off" where it has to reboot? OK... yes, I'm impatient. But I would think ti would be consistent, and it is VERY inconsistent. |

I have a reverse camara and have never experienced an "accept " coming on. Sounds odd to me. Perhaps other members have an answer.

Welcome to the US. You have to acknowledge that BMW is not responsible if you do something stupid with the computer system. You have to re-acknowledge it every time you start the car, before any functions on the display will work including the backup camera.
I bought a Jet Ski a couple years ago, you could almost not tell what color it was due to all the warning labels in various places. If anyone, anywhere needs more attorneys, we have some to spare! |

With mine it I hit accept or do nothing the camera comes up either way when I start to reverse and then the main screen as I move foward. It is always right when I start the car.
I know someone with a Lexus and they have to hit the touchcreen each time for the same reason. I have not notice a delayed accept screen but you may be faster on the draw than me. |

I have wondered whether this is releated to the problem where the steering wheel does not always come back down to the correct position. I am hoping the September software update will have some fixes for making sure the X5 wakes up faster and more completely before us "impatient" drivers get the car started and in gear. I agree with Ferguson...the inconsistency more annoying the problem itself. |

I understand the problem you are having and I experience it from time to time. Sometimes I have to push accept and other times I don't need to. But I do notice there is a delay after pushing the button when asked.
I too hope BMW fixes the delay. |

I watched more closely today as I was running around town...at least 5 stops around town and not once did I have to press the accept button. After the reverse camera goes off, it goes to the iDrive compass.
I'm happy about that...i hate the lawyer message |

Interesting. Everytime I drive it I have to.
I did some more experimenting, and I think it may relate to comfort access. It seems if I unlock the car and get in, then sit there (not started) for a bit, and start the car later, it is immediately ready when the car is running (for the accept screen). If I unlock and sit and start the car without pause, once the engine is running it takes another 10-20 seconds before the screen comes up. I think the computer is doing a boot up of some sort when I unlock it, not when the car starts, and just takes some time. |

I've never needed to hit the button-- by the time all passengers are in the car, and/or it's in reverse with pdc/camera on, the screen vanishes.

And I just learned something. I don't either, it pause there for a while and then continues even if I do not "accept". That's odd.
But it still sometimes is ready and waiting when I go into reverse, or (as it just did leaving McDonalds) the camera view is not on until I am well out in the street and accelerating. |
