X5 suspension video

I don't know if all have seen this, but I found it amazing. The level of systems integration and the number of components is amazing. With that said, I wonder of stuff like this will hold up over the long run? Say 10-12 years? Which is how long I hold my cars.

It will cost some real $ if something goes wrong after warranty.. and you'll be locked into using BMW repairers presumably.. and it may well turn out to be a negative to people buying used cars.. I understand wheel alignments etc are also more complicated with this setup is this true also ?

My wife will be the primary driver of the new E70. Her only complaint with our non-sport 2005 X5 is that it rides too roughly - too bouncy.

So, I planned to buy a non-sport E70 because I was afraid of a harsh ride with the Sport Package. Now that I learned that Adaptive Drive actually smooths out the bumps and up/down motion of the freeway, I am reconsidering the decision to NOT purchase the Sport Package. Now I may actually be able to get it!!!

We drove both of the E70 suspensions (well actually there are 3 since the 3.0 without sport or third row is different than the 4.8 non-sport), and we liked the 4.8 non-sport as well as the Sport. That said, I do not like the standard 18 inch wheels on the 4.8 non-sport, so those have to go. They look too small to me for some reason and also look like the 3.0 non-sport wheels. If you are a fanboy like me, you know about the titanium kidneys, different exhaust tips and stainless window trim to help decipher which E70 you are seeing from a distance, but most people can not tell a 3.0 from a 4.8 unless the 4.8 has those DAMN SEXY but expensive 20" Y-spokes. Those wheels make the X5 and I bet a good number of people who ante up for the sport package (and maybe some who buy a 4.8 to start with over the 3.0) do it because of those wheels!
