As stated before, only a 4 wire trailer connection seems to work on the new 07 models. If you need the 5th (reverse light) or more wires to work then it does not power the 5th (reverse wire) on the wiring. It only lights for a second and then powers down.
My car has been in the shop for at least 2 weeks trying to fix this and now they the techs are saying that they tested 2 other 07 x5 and they do the same thing.
My answer is e53 models work correctly and the e70 does not. Without the power going to the reverse light disc brakes will lock on the trailer.
Does ANYONE have any idea how I can get BMW NA to respond to this problem? The dealer is at a lost as to what to do to fix this. Without this working properly only 4 pin trailers will work when in reverse.
HELP..... Can someone suggest what to do to get this fixed?
