New member tuning in

Hi to all,

First of all let me start by saying that this board has been a great souce of information for me and it helped us a lot with the choice of the color of our new X5 and the choice of options.

I ordered a new E70, 4.8i for the Mrs. and the kids last week. Grant you, I'll be driving it every once and a while as well so that is why we have decided to dress the X5 up with a Sports outfit. My toy is about as sporty as it gets in the BMW order book so it will be hard to match the M6 feeling which is ... well tune in to the M6board if you have some time and you will get the picture. Still, during the test drive I was impressed how smooth the V8 delivers its power making the X5 4.8i a lot of fun to drive and power is available whenever needed (and in civilized way).

The car is fully loaded with options and we decided to go for the Ferric Grey 21" wheels as the black wheels where too sporty for my wife (it will be her car let's not forget that). We got to a fair compromise as she agreed to put the Eisenmann Sports exhaust on. Peace in the family and everybody happy (including the girls as they love the sound of daddy's car). The rear entertainment system will be the cherry on the cake for them.

Bottom line is: the car will look like the one in the Dubai show room (as posted before on this board - see how usefull the board has been for us) only with the black full leather exclusive interior (which comes really close to the Individual trim I have on my M6). I was amazed how nice it looks on the X5 and in combination with the AW exterior and alumium trim it looks very sporty. But as we have learned over the years ... color combo's may work for one person and be a turn off to somebody else. But that makes life interesting in the end.

The bad part of the whole story ... waiting and waiting now started. Porduction of the car is listed for November 07 with an estimated delivery in January 08. Let us hope there will be no delays as this would be a late but nice Xmas present for the Mrs.

Anyway, that is about it for now. I'll be tuning in every once and while and share as many of our experiences as possible once we get the car.

Needless to say, pictures will be posted as soon as the car is delivered.

Cheers

Sounds like a great spec.

I love those wheels, a dealer near me has them on a demo - they look FANTASTIC!

I'm interested in the aluminum trim pics when you get it. The interior trim is the only part I'm still undecided on... but the rest - it's alpine white (w/ aero) with black interior as well for me. The US is only being offered graphite (cheap plastic look) trim instead of aluminum right now - hopefully that will change for MY2008.

Here is a picture in combination with black leather (not the Nappa exclusive). Anyway, it wil give you an idea of the contrast it creates. I had this on an X5 I had 6 years ago and always liked it.
