Angry If your E70 is in an accident... be prepared to wait

My E70 has been in the shop for body work since 8/2 and still don't have all the necessary parts to perform the work. I submitted the list of parts a week before that for a total of 3 weeks with no progress??? The body shop told me that the fender is on backorder status and that BMW can't give him a release date. WTF!
Is this an isolated problem with the E70 or is this the norm for any new BMW model?

it seems to be pretty standard. I have had a problem with my 4x4 system since June. It has had the positioning motor replaced (10 day wait), Transfer box (3 week wait) and I am now waiting for a control unit (5 days and counting). Mix that in with needing to wait until the dealer has a slot, I have now been waiting 8 weeks for my car to be fixed.

Apparently both the positioning motor and transfer box were ok, it was the control box all along.....now call me stupid, but wouldn't that be the first thing to suspect. The dealer tells me that they can only change what they are authorised to do so by BMW UK!

Dealer has been talking to BMW about getting some serious compensation.

First year run....

Hell, I had the back seat leather replaced in my E60 and that took 3 months on back order.

Demand and supply. Sales of E70 are going up and not enough time to produce spare parts. New car parts take priority.

I'll have to second what many of you said...My E70 4.8 was in the shop for almost 6 weeks because the iDrive failed and BMW didn't have extra CCC modules on hand.
