X5 just arrived

My X5 3.0si just arrived!! Sorry no pics, I'll be posting in a few weeks. The X5 is beautiful and drives like a dream!....I did have one issue though, I ordered my X5 with BAMBOO trim but it came with BURLWOOD!!!!!! Althought the burlwood is kind of growing on me is there anyway to change the trim?? I really believe that it was my SA that screwed up but he won't admit to it. I know I specifically ordered Space Gray with Tobacco/Bamboo! He says it cannot be changed, I beg to differ(and hopefully have proof to back it up!). If it can be ordered/changed I'll call the SA tomorrow and have him order the bamboo trim at their expense! So can the trim be changed??

congrats on the arrival!

you can change...won't be the easiest thing. i would just complain. leave the car at the dealership, don't take it home until they acknowledge they have made a mistake

Yes, the interior wood trim can be changed. Of course the stealer will resist, since it will not be cheap! Good luck.

I bought my e53 in '01--I really wanted dark wood vs. the light but there was none to be found in TX with the options I wanted so I got the light wood with the one that was being delivered to the dealer here in Dallas. They said they could change the wood but the adhesive/glue can get really messy and no guarantee it will maintain over the years like the factory installed. Maybe things have changed since then.

have them change it to what you ordered, it isn't your problem how hard it is..it's theirs.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-G...spagenameZWDVW

There is a titanium trim kit right now, it is completely possible to change after the fact..they just don't want to do it if they can avoid it..because..the first thing the GM is going to say when he says this order coming through and installed all at dealer cost is "what SA F'd up this order???"

Exactly! Follow it up with "It's too hard for me to pay you" if they resist making things right.

I know someone who also had exact same issue. He bitched to dealer and they eventually agreed to change. Good dealers always offer to change or order new car as my dealer offered that when they screwed up. You still have to do BMW survey for them.

I would, and will if it happens to me, make them order me another x, they will probably say we will order the trim kit and change it. but I will insist that they order a new truck, I dont want it changed and then lose and start squeking.. then see what happens form there.

You're paying for the car so make sure you're getting what you want. My dealer did the same thing, screwed up on my first order. They ordered my E70 without the 3rd row seat. It's a good thing I have proof of what I ordered via email. I made them order me a new E70. I'm still waiting for delivery of the new E70 but I made sure they compensate me for the screw up. They will pay for the excess miles charges that I will incur on my current E53 lease and got them to pay for my IPOD adapter. You're in a position to demand and not negotiate. Make sure you are compensated for this screw up.
