They may, but not sure it matters or, that they are
any real help. My two experiences with them, via that
identical type of post response, were like calling a radio
talk show to beef about my taxes.

I called them twice about issues my dealer couldnt/wouldnt resolve. Within 1 hour of the phone call to BMW NA (on both ocassions) the dealer called me back and resolved my issue.

Good to read...on my two occasions that the head patters from
Montvale got involved, it took considerable negotiating and
continual pressure to get the stlr to do the job; the ultimate
hand off from the "help line" was that "each dealer is an independent
business" and that "BMW NA was simply trying to identify the issue"...

Edit: maybe they are more proactive or "enabling" these days.

I was surprised at how quickly the dealer called after I called BMW. It was kind like they were sent to the Principals offices.

We have our own BMW NA insider here that prefers to keep a low profile. He was an X5world founding member long before he moved over to BMW NA. If you need their assistance, just ask and we can hook you up.

I'll take you up on that. Here's the not very helpful answer I received from BMWNA today regarding the steering wheel TSB, which was diagnosed as the problem on my E70 by the dealer:

Thank you for contacting BMW of North America, LLC regarding your 2007 BMW X5. We were sorry to read of the concerns you have with your vehicle's steering wheel.

We do not have the ability to advise you in a technical matter via e-mail. I suggest contacting the service team at your authorized BMW center directly, so they can review your concerns in person and provide technical support. Your service advisor will have the most up to date information about available software updates for your steering wheel issue.

We are sorry we could not answer your question directly. If you have any further questions, please respond to this e-mail or contact the Customer Relations and Services Department at 1-800-831-1117, Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M., Eastern Standard Time. Again, thank you for contacting BMW.

Sincerely,

One would think that a premier company like BMW would understand the difference between EST (Eastern STANDARD time) and EDT (Eastern DAYLIGHT time). Or, perhaps, they actually vary their support team by one hour during daylight savings.

It amazes me the number of copmanies that make this same mistake. It seems it would be easier to just state ET.
