iPod + iDrive question

Has anyone with iPod/USB connector figured out how to do "shuffle" using iDrive controls? I just can't find this option... Nothing fancy - I'd just like to have shuffle through the entire collection of music on my iPod. Should be a basic feature, as it is on the iPod itslef, no?

Of course, operating iPod from the steering wheel is a nice feature, but there's lots left to be desired there. For instance, letter shortcuts (where you'd choose a letter and it'd take you to this letter in the list of songs/artists etc.) quickly come to mind when you are left with having to scroll through 4000+ titles using iDrive knob...

you need to "randomize", i think that can be found under "tone" or something

Press the i-drive button when playing a song ... Select Random...

for some reason i didn't even think about pressing the knob while the song's playing. i guess i'm getting old
