"the X6 will command a clear premium over the second-generation X5, which starts at $45,900 and rises to $54,500."

We'll see how much extra people are willing to (or not) pay for basically zero utility, and worse performance than a BMW sedan or wagon. The E70 will get the new diff in 2009 or 2010 which will even the performance out.

Wagner right that BMW has gone too Asian with this thing, which isn't good considering the new Acura's & co aren't that great. Overall, it's pretty ugly to my eye, but that rear hatch seals the deal. E70 is def the good looking one.

Btw, I don't get BMW's marketing. SAC: very low utility, decent performance. Wasn't that the E53?

I don't know... I might be in the minority. I kind of like the look of it.

I don't get the demographics for the X6, esp. at the 80k level.

I think it's the gimmick of having something nobody has. Personally, I like cars that "strange." I'm sure i'm not the only one that feels that way.

let them pick between a family oriented 7 seater X5, and a more radical car for "fun"

you've gotta admit, that the X6 has a lot of personality

X6 is not a utility vehicle, and not meant to be either. What makes you say that it is has "worse performance than BMW sedan or wagon"? on a car which has not even entered the market and nobody outside of BMW has driven it. X6 uses lot of new technology which improves upon technology used in E70 X5 to improve performance. As far as performance is concerned its better than E70 X5. Backup your comments?

The new tech in X6 will move to X5 at facelift time.

BMW is not expecting to sell X6 by huge numbers. X6 is to X5 what 6-series is to 5-series. There is demographics for 6-series. And 6-series does not sell by huge numbers.

I have visited several BMW forums worldwide since X6 pics release and it appears that Europeans just love the X6. Not a single negative comment. Even from those who did not like the new M3.

Not everbody likes the 6-series. Not most buy 6-series.

I'm the target market. I agree with LeMans, it's a cross between an X5 and a 6er. I get the AWD and the higher seating of the X5 with the sporty look and feel of a 6er. I don't need seating for 5 or lots of cargo space. I want a sports car with AWD....I'm a happy camper. Thank you BMW.

although i like the look of the x6, i just like the x5 more.
i love the front of the x6, not so much the rear.

Common sense: center of gravity. Formula One cars, supercars, etc aren't barely off the ground because it looks cool.
