104 miles to a half-tank, no that isn't right... So in 525 miles you've filled it up 2+ times? Good Lord.

104 in HALF a tank, the poster said.
gmoney, what does does your trip computer say for average mileage? I find the TC pretty accurate when it comes to the average fuel consumption. Our X5 4.8 gets 15-16 MPG in mostly in-town driving after about 3,500 miles of break-in.

My 4.8 has about 800 miles on her. I have not done a real calculation on miles per tank. I'm thinking it's in high 200 range. According to the OBC my average consumption has gone from about 10 mpg to 11.8 mpg. After fill up the OBC says 350 or so miles to empty but I know I'm nowhere near achieving that. All that being said, 210 miles per tank sounds real low, especially with the way you say you've been driving.

I am at around 14mpg after a pretty fair mix of city and highway.

I'm getting 11.8 in mostly city driving with almost 500 miles on her. I'm hoping it improves- I've been conciously trying to get it up and am a bit disappointed (no pun intended). The only other thing I find extremely annoying is the lack of a water temperature gaze. A stupid vacuum (ostensibly MPH) gauge instead? On a $70K vehicle? Absolutely no way to assess water temperature?
C'mon BMW. That's downright cheap and hardly worthy of the ultimate drving machine. |

my current 14mpg SUV gets about 215miles on a full tank so that sounds right.
