Update - X5 problem diagnosed, now awaiting fix...

Hi,

I expect many of you have read about the problems we've had with our E70 - to cut a long story short, last Thursday afternoon it wouldn't start - got towed to the dealer. At 4pm today, they have eventually called to say they've found the problem - they say that it's the main fuel injector pump that has failed. A new one is due in stock tomorrow so hopefully that will solve the problems and we'll get the car back.

Sounds like a rather major component to fail in a 2 month old car...

Ok well the garage just called. They replaced the injector pump, and the car still won't start. They have "mailed Germany for some help". So we are still X5less.

These guys are supposed to be Certified BMW mechanics that's why they charge so much for labor and they can never diagnose it right the first time. It's like a trial and error and let's see if this works. Sounds like my HMO doctor. "Here's a prescription and come back if you don't feel better"

That's the problem though - these guys probably trained for BMW when all you had to worry about was the engine. These days, you need a degree in electronics and a Master's in computer programming. Mechanical faults are not usually the cause of the fault any more!
