If you guys think it has enough, I'll give it another test drive today. I wonder what type of discounts, they will offering on the 07's and just maybe I'll be able to get the scoop on the new X.

It has "enough" power...the question is really a matter of personal preference though. There are a few times when I wish I had a 4.8, but not enough to justify the added cost for me. It wasnt a matter of not enough power, but simply wanting more.

Baby is on his way, (due first week of Nov).
Main reason why I had to give up my Z4. This may sound like a total n00bie question, but can someone explain to me about the tranny and how it learns from the driving habits? Quote:

I tend to disagree, I tested the car and found not enough torque for a heavy car. The Diesel is another matter because it has 385tq,
eventhough it is 25 hp less than the 3.0, the 3.0 with only 225tq, does not have enough IMO. |

I was testdriving 3.0 2007 vs 4.4 2006 models and didnt find major differences in their behavior as far as acceleration goes. Finally decided to get a newer one which now has 1000 miles on it. So far I only found that in the hilly areas the transmission tends to choose a one step higher gear than if I would do it manually. But if I put it into sport mode, it does the selection correctly.

I went for another test drive today and I found it to be acceptable. So now the question is 07 or 08. I did fine less 03's on the lots

I’m driving my 3-d X5, first 2001 3.0i (not enough power), 2-d 2004 4.4i – I was very satisfied, only complain – gasoline consumption as I drive quiet aggressively and fast, then now my 3.0si is good enough to satisfy me. Big different between 3.0i and not much different between 4.4i.

the 3.0 has enough power.. the 4.8 has a lot of power.. in DS both drive nicey for SUV's but the 4.8 (even with it's heavier 5335 lbs) moves out quite nicely!
