I would believe this if they hadn't already released 08 pricing for all other models. My guess (and it is only a guess) is that the new option packages are going to make the 07 models that are sitting on the lots very unattractive so they are trying to snare as many buyers as possible before announcing 08 X5 info.

While I understand where you are coming from, the car is built in US and I am sure most of expense is in US$$, (forgive me if I am wrong) but the currency conversion should not matter for US market much.

Regarding other 07 models sitting on lots, I doubt it, Here in North East, there are just none. Its even hard to find one just to take a look at one on the lot, everything is pretty much sold out. Forget about finding one in right color and with right options. Dealers dont have any X5's to sell except the ones they dont know pricing on which makes themselfs pissed for not being able to make any sales.

I (BMW owner/fan) for one am considering jumping ship and taking my deposit back because I dont know what the car will cost me and taking a competitor's vehicle like Q7 or possibly even MDX. (not my first choices obviously)

I dont think that s the case - Its only the second year run for this model so it doesnt make sense for any significant changes.

Plus - Based on the vehicle ordering report that I recieved when my order was inputed into the system the option packages are basically un-changed.

In addition, my dealer and others have been saying no price increase on the MY08 - so go figure.

When I called BMWNA today to check on my production status I asked the rep if he had any pricing or oprion info and he said no and said they are all scatching their heads as well.

While reading this post for me it is unbelievable when you know the
X5 model (E70) and you know the X5 2007 prices, that you maybe
switch to Q7 or some other inferior SUV.
I am waiting for X5 too, delivery is planned 03 2008 and I am not worry about few extra buttons or different headrests at all.
I love the BMW X5 can't understand al your concerns about few minor changes.

E61Silver is an unknown quantity at this point
To me the residual value and money factor on the lease will have a bigger impact.

The 2007 lease deals were not good at all.

The X5 along with the Z4 are the two BMW models that are LEAST affected by the falling dollar value since a good amount of their parts are made by US oem manufacturers (in the US). The assembly cost is also in US dollars, so not affected by the Euro/USD rate. BMW has already released 2008 prices for all it's German built models (which would be more affected by a rising Euro), yet not for the X5 which should be least affected..........So I don't think the EUR/USD exchange rate is the reason for the delay.

As far as those who say that there aren't any changes in options/packages for the 2008 model because the E70 is only a year old..........well, there have been a few people that have already confirmed that there are such changes for the 2008 MY.

Hopefully the 2008 pricing/packages are going to be more attractive and so maybe the theory that they are holding out on the 2008 pricing/package details because they want to sell more 2007's first is true. I know someone mentioned that this does not make sense because there aren't any 2007's left in stock back east, but I haven't seen any shortage of 2007 E70's at the Los Angeles area dealers.

I dont think its concerns, more curiosity. I have a $70K vehicle in production right now and still dont know the price and if there are any option changes.

I knew the deal when I ordered but it is strange that at this point we still dont have the the MY08 info.

I have a slightly different take. It's not "concerns" about the changes. I am more interested in the "sport" and "technology" sides of the X5 and am therefore very interested in what the make-up of the packages are. There are so many "luxury" features that I don't care about or need as BMW Assist, Park Distance Control, Multi-contour seats with lumbar support, Heated seats, Active ventilated seats, etc. etc.
